25 Easy Things to Draw for Beginners

Drawing doesn’t need to be complicated. When I first started drawing, I used to get stuck looking at complex artwork, thinking I’d never be able to create something like that. But here’s what changed everything for me: starting with simple drawings.

Today I am sharing 25 easy drawings that anyone can try. These are the kinds of drawings I wish someone had shown me when I was starting out. Each one looks like a simple sketch. You can draw them using just a pen and paper, or digitally if that’s what you prefer.

For these examples, I used Pixelmator Pro with a .4mm ballpoint brush, but you could just as easily use a regular pen or pencil.

I’ve picked objects and subjects we see every day, from coffee cups to cute animals. They’re simple enough to draw in a few minutes, but still look great when finished.

The 25 Easy Drawing Ideas

Old TV

An old TV is fantastic for beginners because its boxy shape is forgiving. The straight lines are easy to spot, and even if they’re not perfectly straight, the drawing still looks good. Plus, it’s a fun retro object that carries nostalgia.

Balloon

Balloons are perfect because they don’t need to be perfectly round. A slightly wonky balloon can look even more realistic since real balloons often have irregular shapes. The string adds a playful touch that’s hard to mess up.

Cup of Coffee

Everyone knows what a coffee cup looks like, which takes the pressure off getting it “right.” The steam gives you freedom to be creative – it can be curly, straight, or wavy, and still look great.

Pencil

A pencil is ideal because we all know what we’re aiming for. It’s also a neat way to practice straight lines without the pressure of perfection. The slightly pointed tip adds just enough challenge to make it interesting.

Light Bulb

Light bulbs are surprisingly forgiving subjects. Their round shape can be a bit wobbly and still look fine. The screw base is a nice practice in simple details that don’t need to be exact.

Fish

Fish are great because their basic shape is just an oval with a tail. You can make them as simple or fancy as you want, and they’ll still be recognizable.
